I'm Vickie West, a self-employed proofreader and copyeditor for book and journal publishers, and I live in the wilds of Indiana. I've been working at this business for over 15 years, so I'm good at finding my way around manuscripts and page proofs.

Information about my business.

My résumé, my list of books (proofreading, copyediting, and writing), and copyediting samples are available on this site. My samples are scans of a traditional paper edit; however, the majority of my editing has been on the computer for many years now.

For several years, I've been working with corporate clients under a confidentiality clause, which is why additions to the books have slacked off.

• As a general rule, I work for publishers, not individuals. Please feel free to ask, but keep in mind that you'd have to make a project worth my time. This is not my hobby—it's my business.
• I'm not interested in reading résumés, so please don't send them to me. Thank you.
